Dermatologist. He has been working for many years at Ospedali Riuniti of Bergamo (now Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital) and is convinced that research and clinical practice cannot be separate. He has been an investigator with the Istituto Mario Negri of Milan and Visiting Professor at the University of Geneva. He has been appointed a honorary member of the SocietÚ Franšaise de Dermatologie and Director of Centro Studi GISED. His challenge is to do research in Italy independently from industrial interests and outside the usual appointed places such as the university. He evidently succeeds thanks to a splendid and vital heterogeneous working group. Long-live freedom!
